Since the early 1980s, International Hip Hop has given rise to musical greats such as Queen Latifah, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, the Beastie Boys, Missy Elliott, Kanye West and Sean Combs (P. Diddy, or Diddy) . This musical culture has reached great prominence in all continents, including Brazil. The first forms of Hip Hop in our country emerged in the 1980s, mainly in the cities of São Paulo, where young people from the periphery used to gather to rhyme and compete. Artists such as Thaíde, DJ Hum, MV Bill and Rappin Hood emerged from this context and were fundamental to the formation of the national Hip Hop movement. The most successful Brazilian Hip Hop artists are the group Racionais MCs, as well as Marcelo D2 and Gabriel, o Pensador.
